How to Choose the Right RTK Base Station: Sveaverken N10, N20, and V1 Explained
translate

Behind every precise pass — whether on a sprawling farmland or a neatly maintained lawn — there’s an invisible hero: the RTK base station. It sends real-time correction signals that keep your machines accurate to the centimeter. Tractors, robotic mowers, or large-scale lawn equipment all rely on it to perform exactly where they should — every single time. But what is a base station, and why does it matter?

What is a Base Station?

A base station is a fixed reference point with a precisely known location. It communicates with satellites and your machines, providing corrections that transform standard GNSS into centimeter-level accuracy. Think of it as a “navigation center” for your equipment, ensuring every pass is precise and consistent.

What is RTK and How Does It Work?

RTK, or Real-Time Kinematic, takes raw GNSS signals and converts them into highly accurate positioning data. The base station compares its known location to the GNSS signals it receives, calculates the correction, and sends it to your machinery. This allows your tractors, mowing robots, or other equipment to maintain a straight line and precise positioning, even over long distances.

Why Use a Base Station?

Using a base station reduces overlaps, prevents missed areas, and optimizes the use of seeds, fertilizers, or fuel. For precision operations — whether in agriculture or lawn management — an RTK base station is essential for efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.

Not every environment has the same needs, which is why Sveaverken offers three base stations designed to fit different conditions: N10, N20, and V1.

Sveaverken N10 CORS System

the Sveaverken N10 CORS System is ideal for areas with good internet coverage, delivering ±2.5 cm accuracy across a 60 km in diameter. It can control multiple machines — from tractors in the field to mowing robots on large properties — all with centimeter-level precision. For any network blind spots within the coverage, the system can be extended via radio transmission, ensuring uninterrupted RTK correction. As a network-based CORS solution, the N10 also allows you to build a personal or cooperative RTK network and even share your signal with nearby users.

Sveaverken N20 Fixed High Power GNSS Station

Designed for remote or weak-network areas, the Sveaverken N20 Fixed High Power GNSS Station ensures remote or weak-network area with a coverage of 60 km in diameter. If parts of the coverage area do have network connectivity, the N20 can broadcast RTK corrections via NTRIP, enabling flexible integration with connected machines.

It supports five satellite constellations for broad compatibility with different devices and brands. Perfect for large-scale farms or contractors, the N20 delivers stable and consistent correction signals across varied terrain — even in hilly or isolated regions — keeping every machine aligned and operations precise.

Sveaverken V1 Base Station

Some tasks are mobile, flexible, and short-term — and that’s where the Sveaverken V1 Base Station makes a difference.

Compact and radio-based, V1 doesn’t rely on any network connection. It offers a reliable radio working range of 8–12 km in ideal conditions, giving you stable precision even in areas without internet coverage. You can set it up and start working within minutes, making it ideal for small-scale farms, demonstration plots, or mobile lawn maintenance jobs.

Its lightweight, portable design allows you to move easily between sites, maintaining professional accuracy wherever your work takes you.

Choosing Based on Your Network Environment

Choosing a base station isn’t just a technical decision — it’s a strategic one. Whether you value network simplicity, signal independence, or portability, Sveaverken has a base station that fits your operation perfectly.

If your area already has internet, the N10 makes it easy to keep all your machines connected. Need to cover small dead zones? Radio transmission can extend your signal, ensuring continuous RTK corrections for all your machines — from tractors to robotic mowers.

In remote or low-coverage areas, the N20 keeps your machines on track. Already using N20 but gaining network access in parts of your area? NTRIP broadcasting lets you connect machines that can benefit from it, without losing reliability in the rest of your field or property.

For flexible, short-term work, the V1 is easy to move and set up. It doesn’t need any network, so you can get started quickly and maintain precision wherever you go — from a backyard lawn to a demonstration plot.

Precision starts with a strong signal. Wherever your fields are, Sveaverken’s RTK base stations keep your operations steady, accurate, and efficient — every pass, every time.
